I like some of these layout concepts although I know I will be a lot more comfortable in investigating a new template by myself and attempting different exploitations of different styles and shapes of books.
I really like the idea of something like this in my book but in reality I do not have the time to experiment with areas of craftsmanship due to the deadline being so close and having other briefs to resolve.
